Description

The Development & Communications Manager will provide essential support to the Development team including working on annual solicitations, donor stewardship and cultivation, prospect research, event assistance, volunteer management, and special projects as required. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, you will be an integral part of both our fundraising and marketing efforts, ensuring that Glenwood Academy continues our historic longevity to change the lives of those who need us the most.

Core Job Responsibilities

Donor Development

  • Manage a small portfolio of individual donors, grow prospect lists, and increase donor base.
  • Draft annual appeals and other donor communication in coordination with the Development team.
  • Work with VP of Development to manage the Glenwood Academy Chicago Marathon team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, recruitment of team members (10 - 15 max), ongoing communications and support with team members, monthly newsletters, fundraising guidance, and day-of-marathon execution.
  • Create donor cultivation opportunities and assist in planning stewardship events.
  • Recruit, manage, and maintain current and new Glenwood Academy volunteers.
  • Suggest and implement new features and tactics to drive fundraising performance in the digital space.

Communications

  • Create and execute Glenwood communication strategies to increase awareness of the organization and financial support. This will include traditional (direct mail) and social media elements.
  • Photograph activities as necessary, and actively engaged in internal and external committees and events.
  • Collect and draft stories around Glenwood’s work to share with internal and external stakeholders.
  • E-newsletters and hard-copy newsletters.
  • Lead social media fundraising annual strategy and metrics setting and implement/execute related tactics.
  • Manage website (updating pages for all related programs, campaigns, and advocacy).

Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including developing consistent messaging, compelling campaigns, and an overall cohesive communications platform
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong familiarity with HTML email marketing, web-based marketing tools, and social media platforms.
  • Ability and desire to manage own workflow and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to work in a team environment
