Description

Responsible for performing complex accounting functions for Prestonwood Baptist Church and its entities (“PBC”) including assuming a role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, reviewing financial data for accuracy, and communicating with church leadership about financial strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads all accounting functions
    • Posting and reviewing of month-end journal entries
    • Completion and review of bank reconciliations
    • Sales reporting
    • Reconcile deposits, POS system, and meal account charges for Main Street Cafe
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations and analyses
  • Reconciles all accounts receivable and deferred revenue accounts monthly
  • Adds value by providing financial expertise and support to meet the growing demands of PBC
  • Assists with year-end audit inquiries
  • Provides daily oversight and directives to Accounting staff
  • Demonstrates full understanding and ownership over assigned duties, with ability to see and operate based on greater organizational vision with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates ability to identify existing and potential issues within assigned responsibilities and offers appropriate solutions
  • Prepares receipt reports for credit card expenses
  • Reconciles receipts for accuracy and locates missing information from staff as needed
  • Works with ministry staff to ensure competency on procedures and financial software
  • Assists with weekly contribution process
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirement

  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as an active member of a Bible believing and preaching church
  • College degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Five years plus of experience in accounting (CPA candidate or license preferred)
  • Auditing background preferred 
  • Operates under universal organizational competency requirements, such as integrity, servanthood, quality, innovation, and stewardship
  • Courteous and respectful toward external and internal contacts, including team members, and leads by example
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, emphasis in Microsoft Excel
  • Data analysis skills a plus
  • Ability to work a Monday – Friday schedule 
  • Ability to work at a desk with a computer screen for extended periods of time, occasionally perform physical activities that require moving one’s whole body, such as walking, stooping, pushing/pulling a cart, and lifting up to 10 pounds without assistance
